October 2003

The Goldfish Report editors have a page on this site to communicate important information about the GFSA's premier print publication. The July-August issue should be out any day now. Go take a look here.

If you have let your membership lapse or have been thinking about joining the GFSA, now is a great time - here is a form you can print. To submit material for the Goldfish Report to editor Matt Lyon, please see the updated society contact info. Articles and photos in electronic form are particularly appreciated.

The current line-up of people filling the GFSA offices is on the society officers page. The events calendar covers 2003 events and activities: the last US show we know about is also one of the best! Don't miss it in San Antonio TX.

Seasonal Advice

Overrun with snails? Having problems with snail-born parasites? Getting rid of snails: 1 tablespoon of Alum per gallon of water will kill snails quite quickly and if the solution is left for a week, will also kill the submerged eggs. Plants will usually not be harmed by this level of alum in the water. Fish, unfortunately, will be pickled, so remove them first. Alum is available from pool supplies stores, as it is used as a flocculating agent for swimming pools.
