The GFSA has held a number of national conventions. While not a yearly event, these have been very successful at bringing top fish in for shows and auctions and also bringing in goldfish hobbyists and professionals from all over the world.
In April of 2000, a large convention was held in Cleveland, Ohio. This event was located in the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and was cosponsored by the GFSA and Tetra, and hosted by the Northern Ohio Goldfish and Koi Association.
